Tyranny-Book Review

           Tyranny
           Lesley Fairfield
           Toronto: Tundra Books, 200

Fairfield’s book is a poignant examination of eating
disorders. The answers to any kind of eating disorder
aren’t simple, given our media, friends, fashion trends,
workplace, and personal relationships. But Fairfield’s
book gives every adolescent girl hope to overcome and
triumph over any kind of eating disorder.

This story is about Anna who descends into a cycle
of misery that seems unending and deep. Whenever she
tries to resuscitate herself from her dark abyss, her
personal demon, Tyranny, is there to push her back
down. Finding a way to defeat Tyranny becomes a
matter of life and death. And Anna wins!

The book is must read for any girl who is seeking a
better understanding of eating disorders and for
everyone looking for a compelling book of story and
hope. Everyone can conquer this demon. We just have
to want to before it is too late.
